Born to be Microbial is the personal initiative of Rosemarie De Weirdt, bioengineer, gut flora expert and body-centred therapist. My company is the result of an academic career, a personal quest for better digestion and a deep-seated desire to share my knowledge and contribute to a healthier society.
As a bioengineer, I was fascinated by microbes from the very first page of my first microbiology course. This fascination would eventually lead to a Master’s and PhD thesis on the gut microbiome. Even after that, I stayed at university for many years to learn as much as I could about microbes and the way they shape our world.
Microbes are so embedded into everything I do, that I feel Born to be Microbial.
As a former bowel cancer patient, I was introduced to body-centred therapy and trained as a causal foot reflexologist. I discovered how powerful it is to understand your own body’s language and to be able to respond to its signals. It is knowledge we can only learn from ourselves. In my practice I learn about the complexity of the human body every day and develop a broad understanding of wellbeing and health.
Your body is your best guide to your needs. But you have to understand what it is telling you.
